Championing legislation for Black futures

Join The Jackson-Williams Legacy Foundation in advocating for crucial legislative changes that uplift Black women's reproductive health, safeguard Black children, and fortify Black families and culture. Your voice is essential in shaping policies that ensure a brighter future.

Advocating for Black family adoption

We advocate for legislation that actively recruits Black families to adopt Black children, ensuring cultural continuity and support within their communities. This critical policy aims to keep Black children connected to their heritage and identity. We also support policies that empower women giving children up for adoption to prioritize adoptive parents within their own families first.

Establishing safe havens in our communities

We believe that Black churches, barber shops, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) should be officially recognized as Safe Havens (Daniel's Law). This legislative designation would provide protected spaces for abandoned babies, support, and cultural preservation, free from external threats and exploitation.

Protecting Black children from exploitation

The Jackson-Williams Legacy Foundation seeks to establish laws making it illegal for adopted Black children under 21 to be filmed, monetized, and trafficked for influencer purposes. This legislation is crucial to protect their privacy, dignity, and childhood from potential exploitation in the digital age, ensuring their well-being and future.

Banning the adoption of Black children from the Diaspora

We advocate for legislation that bans the adoption of Black children from the Diaspora in other countries to be brought to the United States. This measure aims to preserve Black culture and families within their native contexts and prevent potential cultural displacement.

Make your voice heard

Letter to State Representatives

Dear [Representative/Senator’s Name],

I am writing to respectfully ask for your sponsorship and support of The Black Diaspora Family Preservation and Cultural Continuity Act, a legislative initiative proposed by The Jackson-Williams Legacy Foundation to strengthen protections and opportunities for Black children who are available for adoption.

This Act seeks to ensure that Black children are placed in safe, loving, permanent homes while recognizing the importance of family, cultural identity, community, and cultural continuity in the lives of Black children. It would promote policies that help connect Black children with qualified Black families and supportive kinship and community networks whenever appropriate and consistent with the child’s best interests.

I respectfully ask that you consider becoming a sponsor and advocate for this legislation, helping bring this important issue before the legislature and working with us to develop a strong, lawful, and child-centered framework for protecting Black children and preserving their cultural connections.

The Jackson-Williams Legacy Foundation and supporters welcome the opportunity to discuss the proposed Act with you or your legislative staff and provide additional information about The Jackson-Williams Legacy Foundation and this initiative. Please visit www.thejwlf.org to learn more information.

Thank you for your service and for considering your support.

Sincerely,
